Hand Feed a Tawny Frogmouth

Hand feed a Tawny Frogmouth

On this private 20min interation, you will be led by one of our amazing keepers into the Tawny enclosure, to witness these phenomenal creatures in all their glory. Here you will have the chance to hand feed these gorgeous nightjars. The Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is a species of frogmouth native to the australian mainland and Tasmania and found throughout. It is a big headed, stocky bird with a wide ‘frog like’ mouth designed for catching small animals such as frogs and insects. Tawny Frogmouths are often mistaken for an owl due to its nocturnal habits, however their closest relatives are true nightjars. Tawnys are masters of disguise but don’t worry our keepers will show you exactly how and where to find them, as well as educating you on their role in our ever changing environment. Throughout the interaction, you are welcome to take as many photos and videos as you wish. There will be 2 sessions per day avaliable with a maximum of 4 people per interaction. For this unforgettable experience bookings are encouraged and can be made by contacting the sanctuary
